A prominent southern State Department of Revenue/tax collection agency, serving more than 2.1 million households and 400,000 businesses, was hindered by its inefficient legacy paper–based processing model.
THE CHALLENGE
Anticipating the post-April 15th onslaught of mail in the form of tax returns, checks, payment vouchers, extensions and refund expectations, this agency faced a problematic processing situation: the priority goal of depositing incoming payments while simultaneously processing refunds, but with limited knowledgeable employee resources to accomplish the tasks at hand.
