The Challenge
A medical center located in the Midwest, which provides diagnostic, outpatient, critical care, urgent care and other medical services, was faced with a billing system that did not reflect its multifaceted medical services. The medical center had four primary objectives to initiate a new patient communications program:
- Redesign statements/bills for better patient functionality
- Add more options for new clinic services
- Improve the collection process
- Support multiple practices
The Solution
Statement Solutions developed an Asset Lifeline second to none for the medical clinic including many new patient services. The new statement system included a “budget bill” payment plan. The old billing design for the payment plan looked just like the other bills. “This similarity confused our patients, therefore, we received many calls at our patient care center to clarify billing issues,” comments the Patient Billing Manager.
“The new bills now have a custom message on each bill, which denotes the payment plan the patient has adopted. Essentially, the format has a new streamlined look,” says the Patient Billing Manager.
AccessNow provided the flexibility and customization required to support a professional practice association and multiple doctors, separate fee structures and multiple practice logos. Statement Solutions can extract all of this customized information from one data source and create specialized bills. The clinic is now able to add doctors and practices to its billing system without creating new billing software.
With so many patients, physicians and services, the client needed many options. Statement Solutions used logic to consolidate household and family bills into one streamlined mail piece. The mail pieces were grouped and gathered by a guarantor number. From that, Statement Solutions consolidated all relevant bills for a family billing unit into one statement, saving time and postage.
